Dr. Aisha K Taylor ?

Who is

Dr. Taylor is a native of Pittsburgh, PA and Spelman College graduate whose passion for science and desire to improve the lives of people through their health led her to attend Harvard Medical School where she earned her medical degree and fell in love with the field of Urology. She completed a 6-year general Urology residency program at Northwestern McGaw University in Chicago, IL. Captivated by the subspecialty of Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery (UPRS), she then pursued an ACGME accredited 2-year UPRS fellowship at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH.

With a wealth of clinical and surgical experience and an exceptional breadth of knowledge of conditions affecting female pelvic health, she brings passion to the promotion of feminine wellness, health advocacy for women, empowerment and helps her patients to achieve confidence “from the inside out”.

She has received several awards for humanism in medicine, including the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Susan B. Pearlman Award and the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Department of Urology Dr. Leander Riba Award due to her dedication to patient centered, empathetic, compassionate, holistic care.

She uses social media to connect with women to promote awareness about the subspecialty of UPRS, familiarize women with their genitourinary anatomy and function, and provide education regarding female genitourinary conditions, pelvic floor disorders, treatment options and advancements in care.

She is devoted to increasing access to UPRS care to women of color who are traditionally medically underserved.

As a creative sketch artist and painter in her spare time, she utilizes her artistic eye to focus on the most subtle reconstructive and cosmetic genital aesthetic surgical details that result in pleasing functional and gratifying surgical outcomes for her patients.

What is Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery?

This is a field comprised of Urologists and Gynecologists, who have additional training and experience in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of conditions that affect the female pelvic genital organs, bladder, urethra, as well as the muscles, connective tissues and ligaments of the female pelvis. These specialists focus on the surgical and non-surgical treatment of non-cancerous gynecologic and genitourinary conditions. Some of the common conditions treated include urinary or fecal incontinence (unwanted leakage), pelvic organ prolapse (dropping of the vagina walls, uterus, bladder, or rectum), interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome, and overactive bladder.
